Congratulations to Brandon Montour and his wife on the birth of their first child!
A baby break was taken by Brandon Montour in between the first two Stanley Cup Final games.
Shortly after the series opening, the Panthers defender left Las Vegas on a private plane, returning to Florida because his wife Ryian had gone into labor sooner than anticipated. Just in time to see the birth of the couple’s first child, a son they called Kai, Montour arrived.
After making a comeback, Montour played the most minutes of any player on either team in Game 2.
Recalling his hectic travel, Montour said on Wednesday, “I tried to get there as quick as I could.” “Fortunately, I was present throughout it all and got to share it with her.”
The intention was to induce labor on June 14 and the baby was due on June 18. Rather, Ryian gave birth shortly before Game 1 began, but Montour was unaware of this until General Manager Bill Zito and Coach Paul Maurice informed him shortly after the last horn, and so the adventure began.
Around 2:00 a.m. Eastern Sunday, Montour claimed, he boarded the plane alone from Las Vegas, arrived in Boca Raton at 6:30 a.m., and Kai was delivered at noon. He was back in Vegas by ten o’clock, not wanting to spend any more time.
Father of three Maurice stated, “Monty’s a physical specimen — he can handle a little fatigue.” That helped him adjust to being a father in a positive way, isn’t that right? or a mother, to be more precise. For the next twelve years, you will live a life devoid of sleep. He made a few flights back and forth and attended the birth, which was a really fortunate event.
