Dwayne Bravo and Chris Gayle have decided to sign retainer contracts with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) following years of refusal.

While Kieron Pollard, the third player to refuse a contract that year, remains outside of the group of players retained, Gayle and Bravo’s decisions represent a departure from their 2010 reluctance to accept retainer deals.

Gayle, the current West Indies captain, refused to sign with WICB in 2010 when Ernest Hilaire was the organization’s CEO. Gayle was replaced later that year by Darren Sammy.

Off-spinner Sunil Narine, who had once opted out of a contract, is now on the list which also includes prolific Test batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
