BREAKING NEWS: Aston Villa and Leeds United are pursuing Sunderland’s Trai Hume together.

Sunderland defender Trai Hume is reportedly being pursued by two Premier League teams. Several Wearside players, including the 22-year-old right-back, are being pursued by teams in the Championship and Premier League.

Aston Villa and Bournemouth are reportedly interested in the right-back due to his strong play in the previous campaign. The twelve-time Northern Ireland international cost £150,000 when he transferred from Linfield to Sunderland in 2022. Leeds United, a Championship rival, has already been linked to the player.

Since then, the defender has played two games for the Black Cats in the play-offs and made 74 appearances in the Championship.

Hume has stated publicly that he is content at Sunderland and would prefer to stay, but he also states that his agent handles any transfer rumors. Hume topped the second division in successful tackles during the previous campaign and was a near constant for Sunderland, starting all but one of the team’s games.

However, he also has weaknesses in his game, and when the Championship campaign came to an end in the final three months, he was partly to blame for the subpar goals the team conceded.

Hume, who signed a new contract in June, is under contract until 2027. Given his versatility, some may consider him a risk worth taking at right back or center half. Although Hume is one of the Sunderland team’s most trustworthy players, this quality also draws attention from other people.

He played mostly as a right-back last season, missing none of the Championship games while contributing one goal and one assist in 46 appearances. Hume has shown himself to be a valuable asset in the Championship and has also performed well for Northern Ireland. Because of this, it might be time for him to make his Premier League debut.
