DONE DEAL: Tim Iroegbunam’s exit negotiations with Everton are progressed for Aston Villa.
As we intend to compete on numerous fronts again next season, it was hoped that he would play a more significant
part going forward. As such, we need a squad with quality depth and competition.
Though no agreement has been made as of yet, it seems possible that he could move on this summer as The Athletic
reports that Villa are in advanced talks with Everton about a trade deal.
Things could move along really fast,
according to the report. Sales are anticipated by the end of June to make sure that we don’t go over those limits and
run the risk of being
sanctioned for the upcoming season, despite persistent concerns this month regarding our PSR situation.
Iroegbunam is the most recent player to leave the team, adding to the considerable rumour that Douglas Luiz is
close to joining Juventus. As a result, it will be interesting to see who leaves in the coming two weeks in order to
help us balance our books and, ideally, provide us with the financial stability and flexibility to then invest heavily in
reinforcements starting in July.
There will be sadness if Iroegbunam moves on because many people had great expectations for the gifted young player, who stands out as a top prospect due to his technical skill, physicality, and athleticism. In the end, though, Emery has had plenty of time to evaluate and analyze him up close to decide whether or not he can be a crucial component of his future plans and whether or not he is willing to make that sacrifice in order to bolster and bolster his team as we get ready for yet another exciting season.
Our midfield is undoubtedly the focus of attention thus far this summer, so it will be interesting to see if there is a major rebuild or reorganization to provide Emery with the options he desires, who turn out to be a better fit and who can consistently have a more significant impact on him next season and beyond.
