BREAKING NEWS: Former Celtic player makes a quick comeback to Scottish football in what is praised as a “exciting” transfer.

After spending some time in England, a former Celtic youth star has joined a new team in Scotland.

Greenock Morton, a Scottish Championship team, has signed a former Celtic starlet.

Owen Moffat signed a contract with the Tangerines upon departing Parkhead 2022, having previously played for Blackpool. Moffat came through the Hoops system, had two league appearances with the first team, and technically won the Scottish Premiership. He also won the Scottish League Cup and made an appearance in the competition’s final in 2022.

Moffat did not manage to make a single league appearance for Blackpool’s first team, although he did play for Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Championship the previous season, appearing in 28 league games and scoring three goals. Now that Morton, who just missed the promotion play-offs the previous season, has inked a deal, the winger will don the number seven shirt.

“Owen is a very exciting and promising young player that I am thrilled to have onboard,” manager Dougie Imrie stated of the acquisition. As soon as I learned that he was leaving Blackpool, I was eager to get his signature because he will provide our offensive alternatives exceptional technical skill and quickness.

Moffatt told the Dunfermline Press last year, “Looking back, it’s one of those where you think ‘was it the right decision?'” in reference to his decision to quit Celtic. Was it possible for me to visit Dunfermline the previous year, as the management mentioned? However, I was keen to try Blackpool. It was my goal, and I’m still employed there, clearly.

“I wanted to do it, even though it was a difficult choice. Although it didn’t exactly work out the previous season, I can’t wait to return up here.I have nothing but praise for the Celtic coaches. They were all quite intelligent. Martin Miller, Greig Robertson, Darren O’Dea, Michael O’Halloran, and others are examples. It goes without saying that his son attends Dunfermline, and I accompany him there every morning.”

Upon being questioned about his time on the Hoops first team, the 22-year-old said, “That was pretty good.” I started my career against Ross County—you may recall that match; Anthony Ralston won in the 97th minute, I believe—and then I entered the League Cup final against Hibernian. A brief but intense few days passed.

“It was absurd. It was incredible growing up as a Celtics fan. After that, I believe we played on Boxing Day, and I began the match against St Mirren. Before I received Covid, I was an underused subscriber. When I returned, it was difficult to re-enter because fresh players had been signed. I had the best years of my life at Celtic, and I can’t say enough good things about it. It was difficult, but I’m now moving past it. I’m quite excited to be here and am looking forward to playing outside.”
