Fever rookie Caitlin Clark’s blunt response to potential Italy move for 2024 Olympics

Caitlin Clark, a rookie with the Indiana Fever, is off to a great start in the WNBA and is assisting her team in their ascent. As of the latter half of June, the Fever have won four games. Clark’s basketball resume notwithstanding, she was left off of the 2024 Team USA Olympic squad. When asked if he would rather play for Italy, Clark responded bluntly.

Clark grinned and replied, “I have Italian heritage, but I don’t know about all that.”

The news that Clark will not be competing for Team USA in the 2024 Olympics because to the star guard’s appeal startled fans. Since she began playing women’s basketball in college, Clark has played a significant role in increasing awareness of the sport.

Throughout her four years at Iowa, Clark smashed too many records to count. Most significantly, she broke the marks held by Pete Maravich and Kelsey Plum to become the NCAA’s all-time top scorer. Additionally, after going 9 for 20 against LSU in the Elite 8, she surpassed Diana Taurasi for the most points in the NCAA Tournament.

Throughout the whole season, the standout guard demonstrated her offensive skill. Throughout the 2023–24 campaign, Clark averaged 31.6 points, 8.9 assists, and 7.4 rebounds per game. She has been likened to NBA greats like Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu for her remarkable long-range shooting skills, and thus far, she is establishing a solid foundation in the WNBA.

Clark has averaged 16.3 points, 6.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in 16 games. Despite a slow start to the season, she and the Fever have persevered to take seventh place in the league. However, Team USA chose to include more seasoned players on the Paris 2024 roster rather than Clark.

Reaction to Fever guard Caitlin Clark’s absence from the Olympics

Fans and observers conjectured that Clark would represent Italy in the Summer Olympics due of her ethnicity. However, it seems like she dismissed the notion. While several other WNBA players play in Paris during the Olympic break, Clark will probably concentrate on healing.

Colin Cowherd, a sports pundit, described Clark’s exclusion from the Summer squad as a “wasted opportunity.” In addition, he supported his argument with the example of Minnesota Timberwolves player Anthony Edwards being selected for the men’s squad.
