Cameron Brink and her longtime partner share a post-surgery photo.

The injured rookie for the Los Angeles Sparks posted a picture of herself on Instagram following

surgery to repair her left knee’s ACL.

The 6-foot-4 Instagram celebrity wrote, “So much change, yet so much joy,” as the caption for the

photo that also included her dog, Olive, and her longtime boyfriend, Ben Felter.

Brink’s injury will keep her out of the Sparks lineup for the rest of the season. It also kept her off the US Olympic 3×3 squad. Dearica Hamby, a teammate of Sparks, has taken her spot.

When Brink and Felter were both attending Stanford, they met. While Felter was a part of the basketball team and the national champion, she was also the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year for the rowing team with the Cardinals.

Following surgery, Brink kept using crutches as her boyfriend carried her dog, Olive.

Felter disclosed on Instagram a few months prior that the pair had been dating for three years.

The caption for a love snapshot of the pair said, “Three years together, a day to celebrate the soul that makes me whole.”

Felter’s LinkedIn profile states that he has an exceptional resume. After earning a master’s degree in science from Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL) in his hometown of Palo Alto, he most recently worked there.

Furthermore, Felter has been selected to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll three times, according to his Stanford rowing profile page.

The upbeat tone of the Instagram image contrasts sharply with her earlier this month injury.

In the first quarter of the Sparks’ 79-70 defeat against Connecticut on June 18, Brink needed assistance leaving the floor. Before being ill, Brink played for less than four minutes and only committed one foul.

The No. 2 selection in the draft staggered over to the sidelines and attempted to get into the locker room, but the pain caused him to stop. Brink was hoisted off her feet and transported to the locker room by two Sparks employees.

Brink also sent along some pictures of her and her dog, whom she called “Olive.”

You never imagine that it will occur to you. And occasionally it happens, in spite of all the effort. “I know it will only make me stronger, even though this is hard to fathom,” Brink said in an Instagram post.

“I’m not defined by basketball, but it’s something I love deeply, and I will work every day to get back to it. I won’t let this life derail me.” It’s simply see you later, basketball; it’s not goodbye. I am eternally grateful for your well-wishes and prayers.
