The Chicago White Sox are still the poorest club in the American League, but they have a number of

players that may launch a rebuild, so they remain a paradoxical team with the Major League Baseball

(MLB) trade deadline approaching. Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr., who has had an outstanding

season despite missing two months due to a hip injury, is one of the most talked-about names.

In the White Sox’s 7-6 defeat to the Cleveland Rangers on Tuesday at Progressive Field, 26-year-old

Robert Jr. went 4-for-2. Luis Robert Jr. demonstrated his offensive prowess in the Major League

Baseball by hitting his tenth home run of the season and driving in four runs there. He hit 38 home

runs, drove in 80 runs, and finished the 2023 season with an OPS of.845 in 145 games.

His name is still coming up in trade speculations even after sitting out two months of activity, which

makes him a desirable player come July 30. Luis Robert Jr., who is committed to the White Sox until

2027, has a deal for $15 million through 2025 and two club options at $20 million apiece for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Starting pitcher Garrett Crochet, who has had a mixed season, is another name that seems powerful. With a 5-2 record and 1.53 ERA in 64.2 innings worked in the second half of the season, Crochet, who is 25 years old, has finally lived up to his potential. With a 6-6 record and a 3.59 ERA in 118 innings this season, he is a legitimate trade prospect due to his excellent command and ability to produce strikeouts.

The Athletic reports that a number of organizations are considering both White Sox players, including the San Diego Padres. But the Padres bullpen may suffer a significant loss of skill as a result of this. The Padres are once again pursuing the White Sox at the trade deadline, continuing their recent trend of activity.

General manager A.J. Preller is primarily intrigued in two names: starting pitcher Garrett Crochet and outfielder Luis Robert Jr.

The Padres’ main point of contention, though, is whether or not these changes would diminish their farm talent. Pitching prospects Robby Snelling (LHP) or righties Dylan Lesko and Adam Mazur might be involved in a possible transaction since prospects Leodalis De Vires (SS) and Ethan Salas (C) are regarded as untouchables in the organization.

The Padres organization may have a significant gap in developing its young players as a result, particularly in the starting rotation.
