After the Fever defeated the Liberty, Caitlin Clark became the first WNBA rookie to record a triple-double.
The Indiana Fever, led by first overall pick Caitlin Clark, had a rough start to the season as they
were unable to find a rhythm or an identity. However, after that, both the team and the rookie star
found their groove, going 8-5 in their last 13 games to move up to eighth place in the standings and
have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs halfway through the season. It’s evident that Clark’s
game has slowed down a bit, and she’s also getting better at assisting her teammates to put the ball
in their spots.
as seen by the four games in the previous five that have had double-digit assists (with none prior).
Clark and the Fever put on their best show of the season on Saturday afternoon, both as a unit and
as an individual for the rookie star. With only their fourth loss of the year, Indiana defeated the top-
seeded New York Liberty at home in a thrilling victory. Clark also made league history as the first
rookie to record a triple-double, having missed only one rebound in two games.
With her 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds, Clark led the Fever in all three categories. Aliyah
Boston added eight points and eight rebounds, NaLyssa Smith added twelve points and eleven
rebounds, and Kelsey Mitchell contributed fourteen points in support. Clark took sure to thank her
teammates after the game, stating that it takes a team effort to get a triple-double and that she
couldn’t have done it without their assistance.
