Tre Poteat, a three-star defensive back, committed to Tennessee, demonstrating their continued

dominance in the recruiting process on Tuesday. The 2025 class member is a native of Wisconsin.

Poteat turned down offers from numerous schools, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida, Penn State,

and Tennessee. The only other university where Poteat made an official visit was Wisconsin. He was in

Tennessee last weekend.

Poteat is ranked as the 545th overall talent in the class by 247Sports. He is the fourth-ranked player in

Wisconsin and the 48th-ranked cornerback in the class. The Verona Area High School player, who

stands 6-0 and weighs 175 pounds, intends to register early this winter.

Poteat’s father, former NFL cornerback Hank Poteat, spent ten seasons in the league. Former third-

round pick Hank is currently Iowa State’s cornerbacks coach.

In Tennessee’s 2025 secondary, Poteat joins three-star safety Sidney Walton, three-star cornerback Tyler

Redmond, and three-star cornerback Dylan Lewis.
