Lakers News: JJ Redick Describes His Calling Despite Not Coaching in Summer League

This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers took a huge risk by selecting former NBA guard JJ Redick to take over as head coach. Los Angeles thinks he’s the right guy for the position even though he hasn’t coached at any level before.

Redick gave an explanation for his constant belief that he ought to be a head coach. He said that he’s a sicko in part because of it.

Redick has always desired to be a coach, so the Lakers position presented itself as the ideal chance for him to realize his dream. Although he is starting a stressful job, he is prepared for the trials that lie ahead.

Whatever happens short of winning the championship will be viewed as a failure by the Lakers, who demand excellence from both the head coach and the players. Even if there may be some learning curves, Redick is optimistic about his ability to lead this team to new heights.

With stars such as LeBron James and Anthony Davis still on the roster, the Lakers will have a fighting chance every time out on the floor. Redick will have to figure out how to maximize the roster but his basketball knowledge will likely come in handy despite his lack of experience.
