Rafael Leao’s release clause at Milan expires today
Milan’s Rafael Leao will not be available at a
predetermined price following tonight.
Rafael Leao’s release clause, which Milan placed
at €175 million in the previous contract renewal,
is slated to expire today at midnight, according to
a report published by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
If any interested clubs wish to hire the
Portuguese player, they will need to speak with
and negotiate directly with the Rossoneri
management. Although the 25-year-old’s time
with Portugal in the Euros was not particularly
memorable, he has consistently performed
better for Milan since joining the team.
Al-Hilal had previously contacted through
middlemen, but no offer had been made. Many
teams could use someone with Leao’s profile in
their lineups, but it will be extremely difficult for
them to make a trade happen even once the
release clause has expired. In an attempt to work
with the player for the upcoming season, the
player’s new manager Paulo Fonseca traveled to
Portugal to speak with him after the conclusion
of the previous campaign.
