AC Milan have reportedly agreed a deal with Besiktas for the exit of Fode Ballo-Toure, but the player has yet to green light the move.

The 27-year-old arrived from Monaco in 2021,

and he has since gone on to make just 26

appearances for the club having primarily been

used as back-up behind Theo Hernandez.

It was decided to demote him to Milan Futuro

rather than keep him in Paulo Fonseca’s senior

squad this summer because he hasn’t fully

wowed or convinced when participating either.

This resulted in a loan stint with Fulham last

season. Fabrizio Romano claims that the

Rossoneri and Besiktas have reached an

agreement for the Senegalese international to go

on. In turn, it’s evident from the club’s

standpoint that they’re prepared to let him go

and bolster the team in that area with a better

choice. But he hasn’t always wowed or convinced,

and that resulted in a season-long loan at

Fulham last season. He does point out that

Ballo-Toure has not yet reached a personal

agreement with the Turkish team and would

prefer to return to England, so there’s a chance

that this could cause more complications for him

in the future. It would be ideal if he could come

to an agreement with Besiktas to finalize his

departure, but in the event that this isn’t feasible,

it’s hoped that English teams will express interest

and submit a reasonable offer that Milan will

accept. Milan has a busy summer ahead of them

as Fonseca tries to make the team his own. We

need to improve in a few areas and at the very

least increase the level of competition by adding

more players. That is definitely the case for the

full-back positions. Hernandez is expected to

play a key role for Fonseca, but if we want to

contend on multiple fronts this season, we need

to have quality depth to give the Milan manager

time off and rotate, and Ballo-Toure is obviously

not up to par. Though only time will tell how

things turn out, it would appear that agreeing on

an exit sooner rather than later would be in

everyone’s best interests.
