Cody Barton is a veteran ILB who came into the league with the Seattle Seahawks spending 4 years with them. He then went to the Washington Commanders for a year before suffering a high ankle sprain in week 7 that ended his season.

The Denver Broncos signed him as a free agent this offseason to bolster our defense at a position that needs improvement.

Position: Inside Linebacker | Height: 6’ 2” | Weight: 237lbs

Age: 27 | Experience: 6 years | College: Utah

How he fits with the Broncos

Cody Barton is a player who brings a lot of coverage talent to the field as an ILB. He’s got 3 interceptions in his career. He’s also had some success as a blitzer getting a couple of sacks in his career.

When healthy, Barton has been an all-around excellent linebacker you can rely on to be in his spot and handle his assignment. He’s an able tackler and has a nose for the ball.
Final Word

The question with Barton is going to be about health. If his ankle injury didn’t diminish his athletic ability, he’s easily got a starting ILB spot locked up. He’s got better raw coverage ability than our starting linebackers from last season, which is precisely why the Broncos signed him even after his injury from last season.Bet Now!
