The Dallas Cowboys remain locked in a contract

stalemate with Dak Prescott, but may also need

to allocate resources to adding one more weapon

in the passing game around the quarterback if

the franchise hopes to take even one step closer

to winning a Super Bowl.During training camp,

Jalen Tolbert, Brandin Cooks, and Jalen Brooks

are receiving a lot of with Prescott and

the starting offence while CeeDee Lamb holds

out for a new contract.

However, even once Lamb ultimately returns,

the Cowboys could use quality veteran depth to

shore up the receiving corps ahead of a season

with outsized expectations and pressure to meet

them.

Could Dallas Cowboys be Michael Thomas’ Best Fit?

One solution to the Cowboys’ potential wide

receiver problem is Michael Thomas, who

remains a free agent since being released as a

cap casualty by the New Orleans Saints ahead of

a season he was set to count $12.4 million against

the cap. NFL Media’s Kevin Patra suggests the

Cowboys are Thomas’ best free agent fit.

“Jalen Tolbert, Jordan Brooks, KaVontae Turpin,

and Ryan Flournoy, the sixth-round selection,”

Patra notes. “Are competing in preseason play for

the WR3 berth. The Jalens are ahead in securing

the position, but the ‘Boys should seek out an

experienced player to take his place if no one

jumps out. Despite his lack of health over the

previous four seasons, Thomas is still a big

player who can win off the line of scrimmage.

He would get along well with Brandon Cooks and

CeeDee Lamb because of his versatility to play

the boundary and slot. Dallas might make a low-

risk, high-reward move by integrating Thomas

into Mike McCarthy’s offence. Thomas is coming

off a season in which he caught 565 catches for

6,569 yards and 36 touchdowns through his first

seven seasons. 448-yard 2023 campaign, looking

to prove he remains a productive and consistent

threat. Thomas’ big-game experience and

savviness to produce from the slot or lined up

out wide could make a major impact in the

Cowboys’ passing game this season
