Mets acquire reliever Tyler Zuber in trade with Rays
The Mets traded to fix their bullpen in addition
to adding Paul Blackburn to their starting
rotation. RHP Tyler Zuber, a reliver, was
acquired by the Mets from the Tampa Bay Rays.
To create place for Zuber on the 40-man roster,
RHP Ty Adcock has been designated for
assignment and RHP Paul Gervase has been
assigned to Tampa. Zuber, 29, was selected by the
Kansas City Royals in the sixth round of the 2017
MLB Draft. After making his major league debut
in 2020, he has pitched in the majors for portions
of three seasons. However, he missed time in the
big leagues between the 2021 and 2024 seasons
due to a right shoulder impingement.
Zuber pitched six games for the Long Island
Ducks this season before having his contract
purchased by the Rays. In total, Zuber has made
56 career appearances, pitching to a 5.13 ERA
with 59 strikeouts and 39 walks in 52. 2 innings.
Gervase, 24, had been pitching for Double-A
Binghamton, posting a 3.25 ERA in 22
appearances this season.
