Virginia has made the cut for two more 4-star basketball

Virginia has made the cut for two more 4-star basketball recruits, both top-60 rated prospects.

Derek Dixon, a 6-foot-3 combo guard from Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., announced on his Twitter on Tuesday that his final six schools are: UVA, North Carolina, Arizona, Syracuse, Pitt and Vanderbilt.

On3.com predicts Virginia has the highest percentage of signing Dixon, who eliminated Virginia Tech, Miami, Xavier, Kansas State, Iowa, Maryland, Penn State and Providence. The Cavaliers offered him on July 12, 2023.

Dixon, who plans to announce his decision on his birthday, Sept. 27, has already made official visits to UVA, Syracuse and Pitt. He has scheduled visits to Vanderbilt (Aug. 30-Sept. 1), UNC (Sept. 6-8) and Arizona (Sept. 13-15).

247Sports’ composite rankings have Dixon as the No. 58 overall recruit in the recruiting class of 2025, the No. 11 combo guard in the country and the No. 3 prospect in the Metro D.C. area.

 

Meanwhile, another 4-star from ‘25, 6-7 power forward London Jemison, also announced his final six schools, also on Twitter: Virginia, Kansas, Alabama, Syracuse, Louisville and Vanderbilt. He eliminated Villanova, Notre Dame, Providence, Penn State, Wake Forest and Xavier.

UVA offered Jemison on July 23, 2023.

Rated the No. 37 overall prospect in the nation by 247Sports composite, he’s the No. 12 power forward and the top prospect in Connecticut (St. Thomas More in Oakdale).

Jemison will visit Virginia on Sept. 27-29, and has also scheduled visits to Kansas (Aug 29-31), Vanderbilt (Aug. 23-25), Alabama (Sept. 6-9) and Louisville (Sept. 13-15). He has already visited Syracuse.

Virginia has also made the final 10 schools list for Cam Ward  (see related story here) and the top six for homegrown point guard Chance Mallory, Charlottesville’s St. Anne’s-Belfield (see related story here).
