The Chiefs added reinforcements, though, signing former starter Kareem Hunt in free agency for a reunion that had been six years in the making.

Between the 2019 and 2023 seasons, Hunt was a member of the Cleveland Browns for five seasons. During that time,
he ran for 2,285 yards and 25 touchdowns on 577 runs, averaging 4.0 yards per carry.
In 2023, he had a career-high 9 touchdowns on 135 carries for 411 yards.
As a rookie in 2017, Hunt led the NFL in rushing and was a Pro Bowl player.
In the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chiefs picked Hunt with the 86th overall choice. Hunt, who is currently 29 years old, has
carried the ball more than 100 times in three of the previous four seasons.
In his seven-year NFL career, he has five times surpassed that threshold. Steele substituted for Pacheco, rushing nine
times for 27 yards. Samaje Perine, a former running back for the Bengals and Denver Broncos, is also a member of
the Chiefs. At least until Hunt is back up to speed, Steele and Perine should be in charge of chores.
When he became a free agent in May, he did not participate in any offseason programs.
