Breaking News: Gyorko Joins Mountaineer Baseball Staff

MORGANTOWN, WV – The West Virginia University baseball program is excited to announce the hiring of former Major League Baseball player, Jedd Gyorko, as an assistant coach. Gyorko, a West Virginia native and a standout at WVU from 2007 to 2010, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Mountaineers’ coaching staff.

Gyorko had an impressive professional career, playing for teams such as the San Diego Padres, St. Louis Cardinals, and Milwaukee Brewers. Over his seven years in the majors, he demonstrated versatility on the field, playing multiple infield positions and showcasing his power with over 100 career home runs. His tenure in the big leagues not only solidified his reputation as a skilled player but also equipped him with invaluable insights into the game.

Head Coach Randy Mazey expressed his enthusiasm about Gyorko’s addition, stating, “Jedd is not only a tremendous player, but he also understands the game at a high level. His experiences will be instrumental in developing our athletes both on and off the field.” Gyorko’s role will focus on hitting and infield instruction, areas where he excelled during his playing days.
