Baltimore, Maryland On October 2, four-star safety Byron Baldwin of St. Frances Academy renounced his commitment to Indiana. For the 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back, Colorado and UCLA quickly became interested parties. The Buffaloes hosted him for an official visit from September 20 to 22.
To ensure that he was choosing the best course of action for himself and his family, Baldwin reopened his recruitment. Less than two months later, he recommitted to the Hoosiers after determining that Bloomington was the best site for him to play collegiate football.
Baldwin told On3 that “Indiana has supported me from the beginning.”
Baldwin, the No. 135 overall prospect in the 2025 On300, stated, “That visit was huge.” “I’ve been a champion for the new IU ever since I committed. Davion Chandler was enlisted by me. I saw his video before he committed, and I thought it was fantastic. Since then, he has been my guy. He, Triston Abram, and Kyler Garcia are among the men I’ve recruited. They are like my brothers, therefore it is very important for me to be there and be with them. I also speak with Seaonta Stewart. He told me over the phone, “I can’t leave my guys.”
Baldwin talked with Cignetti before to the game in addition to witnessing Indiana’s decisive victory. The No. 4 player in Maryland knew he was going to “go back to Indiana” after his father spoke with the head coach of the Hoosiers.
Last weekend, Baldwin returned to Indiana to deliver the good news to head coach Curt Cignetti. He saw the Hoosiers upset Nebraska 56-7 on October 19 before making that journey.
