The Ohio State Buckeyes seemed down and out after their loss to the Michigan Wolverines in the final game of the regular season. The city of Columbus was shaken, and many were calling for head coach Ryan Day’s job. However, they had the chance to redeem themselves in the College Football Playoff as the No. 8 seed, and that’s exactly what they did.
The Buckeyes defeated Tennessee 42-17 in the first round, then took down No. 1 seeded Oregon 41-21 in the second round to advance to the semifinals against Texas. Despite facing some adversity against the Longhorns, they pulled out a 28-14 victory and moved on to the national championship, where they capped off their extraordinary run with a 34-23 win over Notre Dame. The catalyst behind all of this was quarterback Will Howard.
