The Texas Longhorns are preparing to face the Oklahoma Sooners this weekend at the Cotton Bowl, but they are also busy in the recruiting game. Texas is one of the best teams in the country this season and many think they could get a first-bye in the playoffs this season.
Speaking of the college football playoffs, the Florida State Seminoles were projected to be a playoff team this season after they had an undefeated year last season before being snubbed of a college football playoff spot. Florida State has not had a very good 2024 college football season.
According to Hayes Fawcett of on3.com, 4-star recruit wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon flipped his commitment from the Florida State Seminoles to the Texas Longhorns. He is in the class of 2025 and is from Lucas, Texas. McCutcheon plays for Lovejoy High School.
He is 5’11” and weighs 175 lbs. Daylan McCutcheon saw the Longhorns live in action against the Mississippi State Bulldogs and that is what changed his mind about going from the Seminoles to the Longhorns.
This is a huge gain for the Longhorns program and this is a huge loss for the Seminoles program. Texas was able to keep a kid within the state of Texas and in-state recruiting is very important for this football program because they are building for the long haul.
College football fans have had every opportunity to blast the Seminoles all season long. It was no different in this situation. Here is what they had to say after the Longhorns were able to land the stud wide receiver recruit:
This will not be the end of the bashing of the Florida State Seminoles football program from the fans this season. The Texas Longhorns deserve all of the praise right now for the way things are going. Daylan McCutcheon made the right decision for his future also.
