AC Milan’s hesitancy will most likely cost them one of their top targets
AC Milan wants to improve every aspect of the
squad, and they have already snagged one of the
biggest fish of the transfer window in Atletico
Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, a striker who won the
Euro 2024 championship. In addition to
considering which striker to add alongside
Morata—German Niclas Fullkrug or Tammy
Abraham of Serie A—Milan is also considering
improvements for the midfield and defense. For
the past few seasons, Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana
has emerged as one of the top young center
midfielders in European football, and
Manchester United has been keeping a close eye
on the youthful Frenchman. Though Milan was
the front-runner to sign Fofana during the
summer 2024 transfer window, they have been
unable to finalize the deal with the Monaco
player due to negotiations over the final fee.
Milan may have already completed this
transaction for a whopping 20 million euros, but
their drawn-out negotiations with Monaco for
their transfer could potentially cost the Serie A
title contenders their top midfield target.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that both Atletico
Madrid, who have gained momentum from AC
Milan following the Morata trade, and
Manchester United, who are in need of a
midfield player, have returned to the fight for
Youssouf Fofana. The Rabiot track is becoming
hotter as the regrettably dull Fofana track cools
down because of Milan’s own hesitation and
potential greed in fumbling around five million
euros here and there. Manchester United is also
pursuing Rabiot once more; however, Milan will
tell you that Fofana is a far more attractive
prospect than the starting French player, who
never quite lived up to expectations during his
time at Juventus, especially not in the most
crucial Serie A or Champions League matches.
