New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara expresses that he prefers not to risk fines or disappoint his teammates

Alvin Kamara provided a clear explanation of his practice with the New Orleans Saints in spite of his lack of a new

contract. In addition to avoiding penalties, he wishes to be faithful to his teammates and coaches who aren’t engaged

in his wage negotiations.

“I’m not a moron. I’m not parting with any cash. Following the Saints’ first training camp practice, Kamara declared,

I’m trying to get paid.”

He stated that he wouldn’t allow it to compromise his dedication to the organization and his teammates, even if he accepted that contract conflicts occur in the NFL.

With over 10,000 yards and 77 touchdowns in seven NFL seasons, Kamara has been an outstanding player. However, in June, he skipped a mandatory practice to express his dissatisfaction with the Saints’ management. His colleagues didn’t know if he would show up for training camp or wait it out, as other athletes have in comparable circumstances.

Derek Carr, the quarterback for the Saints, complimented Kamara on his attendance despite his contract issues, saying it says volumes about his commitment to the team.

With two years remaining on his deal, Kamara’s compensation in 2025 is not guaranteed, so if his play or health deteriorate this season, the Saints may choose to let him loose in order to save money.

Kamara clarified that he is only requesting a longer commitment—not more money. He stated that he would rather to retire and unwind in Africa, where his mother is from, than continue playing in the NFL, and he intended to finish his career with the Saints.

Kamara mentioned he isn’t asking for more money, just a longer commitment. He expressed a desire to finish his career with the Saints and said he’d rather retire and relax in Africa, where his mother is from, than play elsewhere in the NFL.

In recent years, NFL teams have been cautious about giving big contracts to running backs, especially those in their 30s.

On Tuesday, General Manager Mickey Loomis said he was happy Kamara showed up on time and noted the running back, who turns 29 soon, is in great shape.
