Cowboys rookie Tyler Guyton held his own against Micah Parsons in first padded practice
Tuesday marked the Dallas Cowboys’ first
padded session of the training camp, and
fortunately, everything went rather well. Because
you had to walk before you can crawl, there
were no pads at all during the first few practices.
We don’t need to talk about it, but putting them
on is an important step and the closest thing to
Dallas Cowboys football since they last wore
pads. Observing rookie first-round pick Tyler
Guyton compete against Micah Parsons in pads
on Tuesday was one of the games’ highlights.
And guess what? He was able to compete!
This is quite impressive from Guyton given who
he is going up against. Remember, this is his first
padded practice of training camp ever. He was
given a baptism by fire and passed with flying
colors. Pay particular attention to the second
video. Guyton totally ignores Parsons. We are
discussing Micah Parsons here! Guyton has
proven to be a reliable option for the Cowboys
during this summer, if anything. This wasn’t
necessarily the case due to Guyton’s performance
at Oklahoma in particular; rather, it was due to
Dallas’s history of selecting first-round lineman.
One training camp practice shouldn’t cause
someone to lose their mind, but it can be difficult
to resist the thought that they may have done it
again.
