The continuing contract negotiations between

the Dallas Cowboys and their three top players—

wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, linebacker Micah

Parsons, and quarterback Dak Prescott—have

been in the news for months. Given that they are

now negotiating a deal, these headlines haven’t

exactly been favourable. Each of the three elite

athletes hopes to command the maximum salary

possible for their job. Prescott is anticipated to

earn even more after quarterback Jordan Love of

the Green Bay Packers inked a contract deal that

will pay him $55 million year. Lamb and Parsons

have both stated that they would like to earn

more than $35 million a season, making them the

highest paid non-quarterbacks in the NFL.

For months, But while the focus has been on

their established stars, little attention has been

paid to one of their younger players who is

rapidly ascending in the NFL.

Dallas Cowboys Tight End Jake Ferguson Had a Solid Season in 2023

Much has been said of the Cowboys having a

near seamless transition at the quarterback

position, going from Tony Romo to Prescott. The

same cannot be said, though, of their transition

at tight end. Jason Witten, of course, set the

standard for NFL tight ends during his playing

days with the Cowboys. Dalton Schultz, while a

solid player, did not really come close to

matching his level of production.

Jake Ferguson, a 2022 NFL Draft selection and

former Wisconsin Badger, has taken Schultz’s

spot on the Houston Texans. He was the team’s

second-best pass receiver in his rookie campaign

as Dallas’ starting tight end. Of all the receivers

and receiving yards, only Lamb had more.

Ferguson had 71 receptions for 761 yards and

five touchdowns at the end of the 2023

campaign. Additionally, he was selected for his

first-ever Pro Bowl. According to one NFL

observer, the previous season may have marked

the beginning of a unique career.

NFL Analyst Believes that Dallas Cowboys Tight End Jake Ferguson Could the Next Great Player at His Position

He listed the five NFL tight ends who could be

the league’s next big stars at the position, analyst

Alex Kay included Ferguson.

He wrote:”After Dalton Schultz’s departure,

Ferguson had an incredible debut season as the

starting quarterback. He received his first Pro

Bowl nod in just his second NFL season, although

Schultz did not receive one in any of the three

Cowboys seasons in which he started. “Dallas

appears optimistic about Ferguson’s potential to

contribute significantly to the passing game in

the future. The team released star pass-catcher

Tony Pollard and No. 3 wideout Michael Gallup

this summer, failing to add any prominent free

agents or use first-round draft picks to

strengthen the receiving group. Ferguson will be

a lock if he continues to improve on the kind of

trajectory he did from his rookie to sophomore

season for a second consecutive Pro Bowl nod

and a realistic All-Pro candidate.”
