Cohen had a brief stint with the Carolina

before signing with the Jets in the offseason.

At North Carolina A&T, Tarik Cohen quickly

established himself as a standout player. He

became the all-time leading rusher in Mid-

Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) history,

amassing 5,619 yards and 56 touchdowns.

Known as “The Human Joystick” for his agility

and elusive running style, Cohen earned

numerous accolades, including three MEAC

Offensive Player of the Year awards and being

named an FCS All-American multiple times.

NFL scouts were drawn to Cohen because of his

exceptional collegiate performance, and the

Chicago Bears selected him in the fourth round

of the 2017 NFL Draft. Cohen maintained his

impressive flexibility in the NFL, making

contributions as a receiver, return specialist, and

running back. He demonstrated his versatility in

his debut season by scoring touchdowns in three

different ways: punt return, receiving, and

rushing. As a punt returner in 2018, Cohen was

selected for the Pro Bowl and was recognised as

a First-Team All-Pro. Tarik Cohen continues to

have a big influence on the field despite obstacles

like injuries. His transformation from an NFL

playmaker to an HBCU standout highlights the

potential and talent found at historically black

colleges and universities.
