Among Miami Heat supporters, this is arguably the most contentious issue: Should Tyler Herro start on the bench?
The issue may be moot until coach Erik Spoelstra takes any different action. Since returning to the starting lineup after winning the 2021–22 Sixth Man of the Year award, Herro has started all but two of the games in which he has made an appearance over the past two seasons.
However, there might be a cause to reconsider Herro’s stance. In the two seasons that Herro has begun with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, the Heat are 44-37. This core scarcely exhibits the chemistry one would anticipate after five seasons together. It’s reasonable to ask if that trio will ever click if it hasn’t already.
The other aspect of the situation is this: If Spoelstra were to abruptly switch players and bench Herro, who would take his place? These are the apparent choices.
4. Duncan Robinson
Robinson has chemistry with Butler and Adebayo that Herro does not. Take it from Udonis Haslem, though—he told ESPN’s First Take that he would start Robinson and transfer Herro to the bench.
Haslem stated, “We’re better as a team when Duncan Robinson is in the starting lineup, making plays and being that trigger.” “Tyler can play ball, score, and be himself in that second group. Don’t worry about getting guys involved.
Robinson can have an effect without the ball. Defenders are forced to cover him as he sprints around the arc due to the threat of his quick trigger shot, which opens up room for Butler and Adebayo to operate in the paint. If Herro was benched by the Heat yet they wanted to
