Jordan Gidron, a four-star wide receiver and ESPN’s 41st overall pick in the 2026 class, announced his commitment to South Carolina on social media Friday afternoon.
Gidron, a pass catcher from Columbia, South Carolina, who stands 6’2″ and weighs 180 pounds, intends to switch to the 2025 cycle. Gidron would be Shane Beamer’s top recruit in his 2025 class once he reclassifies.
The announcement is made the day before the Gamecocks play No. 12 Ole Miss at Williams-Brice Stadium in Week 6 (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Gidron was ranked as the seventh wide receiver in the 2026 class by ESPN at the start of the fall. Gidron attended camps at Auburn, Alabama, and Georgia before returning to Auburn for the Tigers’ junior day in late July. He also made unofficial trips to North Carolina and N.C. State before starting his junior year at Ridge View High School in South Carolina.
Gidron’s commitment comes three weeks after he visited South Carolina for the Gamecocks’ 36-33 loss to LSU on Sept. 14.
Gidron caught 45 passes for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns during his sophomore season last fall.
Gidron will become the newest member of a South Carolina 2025 class that includes only one other ESPN prospect in four-star wide receiver Lex Cyrus (No. 285 in the ESPN 300).
The highest-rated prospects in the Gamecocks’ 19-player class, behind Cyrus, are wide receiver commit Brian Rowe (No. 45), four-star safety commits Damarcus Leach (No. 24 safety) and Kendal Daniels Jr. (No. 28).
South Carolina’s incoming class sat at No. 35 in ESPN’s latest rankings for the 2025 cycle prior to Gidron’s commitment.
Oregon remained the unanimous No. 1 team in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll Sunday after its close call at Wisconsin, while Notre Dame and Alabama each jumped up two spots and Georgia returned to the top 10.For the first time in two years, LSU is not ranked.
For the fifth consecutive week, the undefeated Ducks have topped the AP Top 25 and surpassed Texas to become the team with the most polls this season. After defeating Wisconsin 16–13 and scoring their fewest points in 37 games, they were awarded all 62 first-place votes for the third consecutive week.
