Nebraska Football: New OC Dana Holgorsen is Definitely the New Sheriff in Town on the Offensive Side of the Ball….

Today Dana Holgorsen met with the media and he did not disappoint.

A few weeks ago, then offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield made some comments at his media appearance that led some of the media to say he disqualified himself to be the OC at Nebraska. I was critical of such a statement, and as I said it was the product on the field that should disqualify him and not some off hand statement about running the ball.

Insert Dana Holgorsen, and he will probably receive wide acclaim and praise from some in the media which I guess would mean he is a great offensive coordinator. For now at least.

One thing that is absolutely obvious is that Dana Holgorsen is confident and extremely blunt.

The best example of such bluntness is his statement after he was asked to comment on the wide receiver play:

“It’s embarrassing.”

YES. Yes, the perimeter blocking by the wide receivers has been embarrassing and to hear that come out of the mouth of a newly ordained offensive coordinator was a welcome sight for sore eyes.

Overall what did Holgorsen think about the offense?

What about the running backs or the running game as a whole?

So what I can take from this press conference is that the entire offense is on notice and that includes both the players and the coaches.

The wide receiver blocking – “embarrassing”.

The running backs – “discouraging”.

The offense as a whole – “need to get better.”

At least we can say that he’s seeing the same things we all are seeing.
