This quote from Lipscomb’s head coach shows just how elite Kentucky’s offense is

Lipscomb’s head coach made a bold statement about Kentucky’s offense.

Every basketball team needs a player who can step up and score in clutch moments, and for the Wildcats, it remains unclear who that player will be. In their game against Duke, Kentucky took the lead late thanks to Otega Oweh’s ability to get to the free-throw line.

During an inbounds play, the Wildcats sent the ball deep to Lamont Butler, who also earned free throws, but there wasn’t a situation where they needed a basket in the final seconds. Andrew Carr and Oweh both contributed key points down the stretch, with Oweh’s free throws ultimately making the difference. The question moving forward is who will take control when Kentucky finds itself in late-game scenarios—whether tied, down by a point, or holding a one-point lead in the final minute. Given the team’s style of play, Oweh seems like the best option, as he is skilled at driving to the basket.

Carr, too, will have moments this season where he delivers a critical basket late in the game, like he did against Duke. However, it will be intriguing to see how Jaxson Robinson fits into late-game situations. Though Robinson struggled against Duke, he’s certainly capable of hitting key shots in clutch moments.

While the logical choice for late-game situations seems to be Oweh, given his ability to attack the rim and get to the free-throw line, the Wildcats have a roster full of players who can rise to the occasion and make big plays when needed.
