The Alabama Crimson Tide may have found their next starting quarterback after landing another star on National Signing Day.
With Bama facing an uncertain future with Jalen Milroe, head coach Kalen DeBoer now has some insurance thanks to the upcoming recruiting class.
Milroe is being mentioned among the top quarterback prospects for the 2025 NFL draft. Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling projects Milroe as a top-five pick in his latest mock draft. If Milroe does turn pro, the Crimson Tide will have a quarterback competition loaded with talent for 2025.
Ty Simpson and Austin Mack are among the quarterbacks who could compete to be the team’s QB1 in 2025. Now, highly touted quarterback Keelon Russell will enter the mix as the Crimson Tide announced the longtime 2025 commit is officially signed. On3.com has Russell as the No. 2 ranked player in the 2025 recruiting class.
Russell has the talent to potentially be the Crimson Tide’s starter in Week 1 for the 2025 season. The star’s projected NIL value is projected at $72.2 million, the second highest of any player in the 2025 class, per On3. Russell is drawing comparisons to longtime NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
“Well-rounded, instinctive quarterback prospect with surgical passing ability, good athleticism and a battle-tested resume,” On3.com detailed. “Measured at 6-foot-3 ⅛, 181 pounds with a 9 ⅝-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season.
“Grew over half an inch as a junior. At the dials of one of the most talented offenses in high school football, leading Duncanville to back-to-back state titles in Texas highest classification as a sophomore and junior.”
