In a recent victory against Incarnate Word, Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, emphasizing both individual growth and team chemistry.
Scheyer highlighted the importance of playing with energy and focus, which the Blue Devils demonstrated throughout the game.
“We’re continuing to grow as a team,” Scheyer said in his post-game comments. “It’s about getting better each day, and tonight was a good step forward in terms of execution and defensive effort.” He noted that while the win was decisive, there were still areas where the team needed to improve, particularly on the defensive end.
Scheyer also singled out key performances from his players. “Our younger guys are showing great potential, but it’s important that we stay grounded and keep pushing for consistency,” he added.
Several freshmen contributed to the win, with standout performances helping to create an opportunity for the team to build momentum heading into tougher matchups.
Offensively, Scheyer was pleased with the team’s ball movement and the high number of assists, a sign of effective teamwork. “When we share the ball and play unselfishly, that’s when we’re at our best,” he explained.
However, he acknowledged that Duke will face tougher tests as the season progresses and urged his players to remain disciplined.
As the season moves forward, Scheyer’s focus remains on refining the team’s overall performance. “Every game is an opportunity to improve, and we need to take each one seriously, regardless of the opponent,” Scheyer concluded.
With the Blue Devils securing a solid win, attention now turns to their next challenges, where they hope to continue building on their early season success.
