The West Virginia Mountaineers football program has had a tremendous week, signing Rich Rodriguez as its new head coach! Now, the process of building his program begins and it may just start with one of the most talented players in the nation!
Chris Henry, Jr., the son of the late Chris Henry, who played for the Mountaineers under Rodriguez from 2003-2005, was raised by his father’s former teammate at West Virginia, Adam “Pacman” Jones, after his father passed away in 2009. Now, Henry, Jr.
is a five star wide receiver and one of the top recruits in the 2026 class. Henry, Jr. is currently an Ohio State Buckeyes commit, but that could all change now that his late father’s head coach is now back at West Virginia.
Late last night, Henry, Jr. posted a video of his father playing for the Mountaineers on his social media account, sparking rumors that he could potentially de-commit from Ohio State and follow in his father’s footsteps to Morgantown!
Henry, Jr., a 6’5 wide receiver from Santa Ana, California, is the #1 ranked player in the state of California, the #1 wide receiver in the nation and the #3 ranked overall player in the 2026 recruiting class, per 247 Sports. According to national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins, “Henry checks off every box you want to see in a next level receiver. In fact, despite not playing a ‘premium’ position from an NFL Draft standpoint, he’s good enough to warrant consideration as the top overall recruit in the ’26 class. 4. At close to 6-6 and 195 pounds, Henry is one of the longest receivers in the ’26 class but has surprisingly agility and lateral quickness.
He’s explosive out of the gate, can stop and start on a dime, change direction and obviously has that huge catch radius. He has the long speed to stretch the field and hit the home run but the size and sure handedness to be a go to guy on key third down situations.
He’s dominant in the air on jump balls and as he fills out some and he gains strength, his game will take off to another level.”
