Former Alabama WR Amari Jefferson will continue his college football career at Tennessee. Jefferson announced Tuesday that he is switching sides in the Third Saturday in October rivalry.
Jefferson’s move to Rocky Top comes after a true freshman season in Tuscaloosa. He announced the big news with the help of On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Jefferson did not see game action in 2024. He took a redshirt for the season and has 4 remaining years of eligibility.
It’s a homecoming for Jefferson. Out of Chattanooga (Tennessee) Baylor School, Jefferson was one of the top recruits in the Volunteer State. On the 247Sports Composite, Jefferson was rated 4-stars, the No. 5 player in the state of Tennessee, No. 35 wide receiver and No. 212 prospect overall in the Class of 2024.
In his initial recruitment, Jefferson received 24 scholarship offers. He took official visits to Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia, ultimately signing with the Crimson Tide.
Jefferson is also talented on the diamond. He was once committed to the Tennessee baseball program. Plenty of fans will be interested in seeing if he’s a 2-sport Vol during his time on Rocky Top.
“I don’t know about baseball yet,” Jefferson told Caleb Sisk of SI. “It will be something we figure out when I get up there.”
