On Wednesday, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day met with the media for the first time since he delivered a stunned press conference right after the team’s stunning upset loss to the Michigan Wolverines.
In “The Game” Sherrone Moore won his second game against Ohio State, after Jim Harbaugh’s place in 2023 as well, with a 13-10 victory.
The Wolverines entered the game as 21-point underdogs, but used a dominant effort on both lines of scrimmage to win the game. After taking a few days to reflect on his fourth straight loss to Michigan, the Buckeyes head coach made an appeal to Ohio State fans.
Asked why he’s the right man to lead the team, Day didn’t hold back, with a clear message to fans. “You know I feel their frustration, I don’t know what else to tell you,” he started off.
“There’s no way to defend losing four years in a row, but I know this, we’re going to play really hard in this game and we’re going to swing as hard as we possibly can and we got a great group of guys.”
“This is going to move on to this next challenge and we have to attack it with everything we possibly have – and that’s about it,” he added. “I get the frustration, I know what comes with this job. But we’ve won a lot of games around here too. We’ve lost some key ones, I know. But we’re right there and we’ve got to keep swinging at it. Sometimes when you’re really, really close and you feel frustrated you just gotta push through and that’s what we’re going to do.”
Ohio State sat at No. 6 in the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings and would own the No. 8 seed in the tournament if it started this weekend. As of right now, the Buckeyes would play against No. 9 seed Tennessee in a game at Ohio Stadium in the first round of the playoffs.
