College football recruiting has become more chaotic than ever, with NIL playing a major role in the changes.
One of the biggest shifts is the increase in decommitments. In the past, once a player committed to a program, it was uncommon for them to change their decision.
commitments did happen, they were far less frequent than they are today.
As a result, modern coaches must continue recruiting their committed players just as aggressively as they do uncommitted prospectsZech Fort, a highly-rated safety from Bradenton, FL, is a four-star prospect.
Based on the 247Sports composite rankings, he is ranked as the No. 109 overall player in the nation. In the 2026 class, he stands as the No. 8 safety and is the 15th-ranked player from Florida.
Zech Fort committed to Georgia on January 30 and remains the highest-ranked player in Georgia’s 2026 recruiting class.
However, his commitment may not be solid, as Once reports that several programs believe his recruitment is still open. According to Once, Notre Dame, Miami (FL), Florida, and USC are the primary schools pursuing him.
So far, Fort has not publicly shown interest in any other programs since committing to Georgia.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean he isn’t considering other options.
This makes his recruitment one to watch closely, as Kirby Smart and his staff will need to work hard to keep him in their class.
