Athletic: Newcastle want a right-sided CB – Milan man among those ‘tracked’
In recent weeks, Newcastle United have been
looking to AC Milan again for additions to their
squad, and a report has suggested they have
‘tracked’ a player in their quest to find another
central defender. Milan‘s lack of central
defenders was one of their
main problems the previous season. They are
already trying to address this in the current
transfer window, with at least one acquisition
anticipated, but that may alter because of an
ongoing experiment. However, if the Rossoneri
lose a player, that one addition might turn into
two, making the squad appear extremely thin in
that area and forcing the managemen
has “tracked” Malick Thiaw, according to The
Athletic. The Magpies may try again with a
different target after their initial attempts to
recruit Fikayo Tomori were unsuccessful.
The 22-year-old central defender matches the
profile and age that they are probably hoping to
sign. Although there have been doubts about the
two teams’ relationship—particularly in the
wake of the Sandro Tonali scandal—the Diavolo
will have a price in mind, and Newcastle must
reach it if they wish to sign the player.
