It is time to go all in on Gunner Stockton.

It hasn’t even been a full 48 hours since star QB Carson Beck was injured during the SEC Championship game, but there has already been multiple updates that have been released about his status.

Unfortunately, all of those reports have expressed a lot of doubt in his availability, and that was confirmed today in a statement from Georgia which stated that Beck and his family are exploring treatment options and that there is no timetable for his return.

This is the worst news imagineable, but it really isn’t all that surprsining because the injury looked very bad when it happened live. So now that Georgia football knows that they will be without Beck likely for their entire College Football Playoff run, where do they turn next?

While this may seem like the perfect time to start worrying about Georgia’s chances of winning a National Championship, the team is actually doing the exact opposite.

Georgia is now turning to backup Gunner Stockton, who had a very solid showing in the second half on Saturday against Texas. And that performance, on top of all the work Stockton’s put in at Georgia the last few years, has caused his teammates to have a lot of confidence in him.

Beyond his teammates having a lot of confidence in him, there are plenty of other reasons to not worry about Stockton taking over. He has been at Georgia for three years now, so he knows the offense and personnel just as well as Beck did. Stockton also was ranked very high out of high school and has a style of play that could be difficult for opposing defenses to defend.

So while it would have been better to have Beck back in time for Georgia’s next game, UGA will be just fine with Stockton under center and still have a great chance at winning a National Championship this season.
