Tennessee reserve quarterback Navy Shuler, a Vol legacy, announced on social media Monday his thanks for the game of football as he begins his next chapter in life.
“Thank you football,” Shuler wrote on X. “You gave an eight year old boy a dream to play quarterback not only in college but at the University of Tennessee. Thank you to everyone who was apart of my journey. I will forever be grateful. Here’s to the future!”
The quarterback signed the post with Proverbs 3:5-6 as well.
Shuler played three seasons at the University of Tennessee after beginning his collegiate career at Appalachian State. From 2022-2024, Shuler appeared in four games in the Orange & White, completing 2-of-4 passes for nine yards while also rushing for two yards on five carries.
The veteran signal-caller appeared in one game with the Mountaineers in 2021 after taking a redshirt in 2020. Shuler had one year (COVID) of eligibility remaining after 2024. He was rated as a three-star quarterback out of Christ School in Arden, N.C. as a prep standout, accounting for 7,591 all-purpose yards with 82 career touchdowns in high school.
Navy’s father, Heath, was a standout quarterback for the Vols in the early 90s. Heath was named the SEC Player of the Year in 1993 and was runner-up for the Heisman Trophy before being selected by the Washington Redskins with the No. 3 overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft.
