Redknapp: Manchester United Must Silence £65 Million Tottenham Superstar Player
Former Premier League manager and pundit Harry Redknapp has issued a strong warning to Manchester United ahead of their crucial clash with Tottenham Hotspur. He believes that United must find a way to stop Spurs’ £65 million superstar, James Maddison, if they want to stand a chance of securing victory.
Maddison, who joined Tottenham from Leicester City in the summer of 2023, has been one of the standout performers for Ange Postecoglou’s side. The attacking midfielder has been instrumental in Spurs’ attacking play, creating chances and dictating the tempo of their games. His vision, creativity, and ability to unlock defenses make him a constant threat, and Redknapp insists that United must have a plan to nullify his influence.
Speaking to the media, Redknapp highlighted Maddison’s ability to find space and deliver key passes, which could expose United’s defensive vulnerabilities. He pointed out that Erik ten Hag’s side has struggled defensively at times this season, and allowing Maddison too much freedom could be disastrous.
“Manchester United have got to keep Maddison quiet,” Redknapp said. “If they let him run the show, he’ll create all sorts of problems. He’s got the ability to pick the right pass and make things happen. United’s midfield needs to be on top of him from the start.”
With United desperate for points to boost their top-four hopes, stopping Maddison will be a top priority. Whether through a dedicated man-marking role or a compact midfield structure, Ten Hag must ensure that Spurs’ playmaker doesn’t dictate the game. If United fail to contain Maddison, Tottenham could take full advantage and cause major problems at Old Trafford.
