With some media people questioning 10-0 and No. 5-ranked Indiana, IU football coach Curt Cignetti fired back today.
Cignetti made factual comments on The Triple Option podcast ahead of No. 5 Indiana’s Saturday showdown at No. 2 Ohio State. His comments came after several days of a seemingly coordinated flow of comments mainly from SEC-based media members and others from SEC country.
“These schedules are set years in advance. I mean, Alabama played Mercer, Georgia played Chattanooga, Vanderbilt played Georgia State and lost,” Cignetti said.
“The schedule is what it is. The fact of the matter is, we’ve beaten seven P4 teams. Every single one of them had a winning record when we played them except two were at .500. One was 5-1 and one was 3-1. We also beat the defending national champ and runner-up.
“And for the most part, with the exception of the Michigan game, every game has been a decisive victory. We didn’t even trail until two weeks ago. We were behind at Michigan State 10-0 the first quarter and rattled off 47 straight.
“Do your research. Google us, so you know something about us besides our name and what we’ve done in the past and what somebody else says about our schedule.”
