Following the loss of longstanding commitment Tramell Jones Jr. last week, Florida State has been looking to add a quarterback to its 2025 class. Recently, the Seminoles were interested in four-star Carter Smith, but they were forced to change their course because it was anticipated that the Florida native would end up at Wisconsin.
Kevin Sperry, a four-star quarterback and Oklahoma recruit, declared he was switching to Florida on Thursday night.
State. Sperry hasn’t been to Tallahassee in almost two years after making a commitment to the Sooners in March 2023. To put it mildly, this is unexpected.Over the past three seasons, Sperry has played for three different high schools.
As a junior, he completed 131/191 passes (68.6%) for 2,564 yards with 31 touchdowns to four interceptions and 93 rushes for 563 yards and 11 additional scores, leading Oklahoma City Carl Albert High School to a 14-0 record and state championship.
To complete his prep career, the Texas native is returning to his home state. He has led Guyer High School to an 8-3 record, which includes last week’s 52-30 playoff victory over McKinney High School. Sperry has completed 131/234 passes (56%) so far this season, adding 642 yards and two touchdowns on the ground while gaining 2,026 yards and 21 touchdowns to seven interceptions.
