NACC Confirmed: Ohio State football’s Seth McLaughlin is a finalist for a prestigious award despite injury….

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football’s Seth McLaughlin won’t be on the field for the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff.

However, the center is still getting recognized for his outstanding play this season.

McLaughlin was named a finalist for the Rimington Trophy on Monday. It’s presented annually to the top center in college football.

Billy Price (2017), Pat Elflein (2016) and LeCharles Bentley (2001) are the lone Buckeyes to ever win the award. This year’s winner will be announced Thursday.

McLaughlin was a first-team All-Big Ten selection this season after allowing no sacks on 207 pass blocking snaps. He allowed only four total pressures.

His season ended early, though. McLaughlin tore his Achilles tendon during practice leading into Ohio State’s game against Indiana on Nov. 23.

McLaughlin was in his first and only season with the Buckeyes. He transferred to OSU in the offseason after a successful four-year career at Alabama.
