Former Georgia wide receiver Anthony Evans III has announced his transfer to Mississippi State University, where he will join the Bulldogs for the 2025 season. Evans, a native of Converse, Texas, brings notable speed and versatility to his new team, with two years of eligibility remaining.
During his tenure at the University of Georgia, Evans participated in 19 games over two seasons. In the 2024 season, he recorded nine receptions for 88 yards and contributed significantly on special teams, returning 17 punts for 129 yards and adding 124 yards on kickoff returns. One of his standout performances included a 52-yard rush against Mississippi State, showcasing his explosive playmaking ability.
Evans’ decision to transfer aligns him once again with Coach Jeff Lebby, Mississippi State’s head coach, who had previously recruited him during his tenure as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma. Initially, Evans had committed to Oklahoma before ultimately signing with Georgia. This prior connection suggests a mutual understanding of Evans’ potential role in Lebby’s offensive scheme.
At Mississippi State, Evans is expected to fill a crucial need at the slot receiver position, a role that has been pivotal in Coach Lebby’s offensive strategies.
